General FAQ
How do I contact the Powdercloud for support?
First up, you come to the right place! This page presently contains our general FAQ and contact information. In the near future a lot of information will be available to you, including detailed support pages specific to various aspects of the product. If you'd like to contact us please use the mail item at the bottom of the page (If you're still not sure, just send to support@powdercloud.com).
Why should I use the Powdercloud Platform?
There are two important reasons to use the Powdercloud Platform. The first is to create a database of industry specific snow, weather and avalanche observations that can be mutually shared with other backcountry operations of your choice. The second reason is to have our unique management tool that can analyze your snow science data, organize your day-to-day activities, build a client database, and market your business.
How does the sharing of snow science data work?
Your data is stored online on a “state of the art” secure data system, and only you are able to decide who will have access to that information, and reciprocal rights may be granted to you. In order to view that data, you will be given a list of all operations that have agreed to share with you. You can view this information by individual operation, or have all shared operations in a single table. Best of all, you will have immediate access to the snow science data once it is entered into the online database via standard web browsers, or on mobile devices.
What do I need to run the Powdercloud Platform?
The Powdercloud Platform is designed to run on all computers or laptops that have a current web browser such as Chrome or Safari, for example. For remote operations without internet access, the coming Powdercloud Platform will run locally on your computer or laptop.
Why do you offer a mobile solution?
Being able to enter your snow science data on a handheld device like your smartphone is an added convenience and, with internet access, a real-time transfer of the data to and from your home base. Even without cellular internet access, being able to simply upload the data to your main computer at the end of the day is much easier than having to type in your field book notes.
Is there technical support available to me?
Most definitely - one of our core values is customer satisfaction so we have online technical support at support@powdercloud.com.
